Give - Why?
For believers, giving is a very personal form of worship as we recognize that our Saviour has given so much more than He would ever ask of us. Giving is one of the most beneficial and fulfilling experiences we can share in. Giving is beneficial because habitual givers get more in return than is given out. Giving is fulfilling because compassionate givers get to contribute to a cause bigger than any one person.
Proverbs 3:9 "Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Acts 20:35 "...it is more blessed to give than to receive."
Tithe Offering
Tithe offering is where an individual cheerfully gives a minimum of 10% of what is earned or received back to the local church.
Malachi 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Freewill Offering
Freewill offering is where an individual chooses to give as the Lord impresses upon his/her heart to give.
2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
Sacrificial Offering
Sacrificial offering is where an individual calculates to give over and above what is required, forgoing something of meaning for a greater purpose.
2 Samuels 24:24 "...neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing…"
